چکیده

Crime scene investigation is the meeting point of science, logic and law. Processing a crime scene is a long, tedious process that involves purposeful documentation of the conditions at the scene and the collection of any physical evidence that could possibly illuminate what happened and point to who did it. There is no typical crime scene, there is no typical body of evidence and there is no typical investigative approach. At any given crime scene, investigators might collect dried blood from a windowpane -without letting his arm brush the glass in case there are any latent fingerprints there, lift hair off a victim's jacket using tweezers so he doesn't disturb the fabric enough to shake off any of the white powder (which may or may not be cocaine) in the folds of the sleeve, and use a sledge hammer to break through a wall that seems to be the point of origin for a terrible smell. Among the numerous biometric techniques used for human identification, foot biometry has been largely neglected so far. Even though the human foot has been extensively studied in medical and forensic research and obviously bears similar distinctive properties like the human hand, its use in commercial biometric systems is considered complicated. In this paper foot print boundary analysis is made and proposed method is illustrated.

CODEN ( USA ) : JSERBR A new Quarterwave Phase Retarder with Novel Characteristics

Design of a two-reflection, non-deviating beam total internal reflection quarterwave phase retarder is presented. The device treats the two main drawbacks of the Fresnel rhomb which are the lateral shift of the emergent beam and sensitivity of the retardance value to errors in the external angle of incidence. In addition, it is of compact size and the path length of the beam inside the device i...

Compressed Domain Scene Change Detection Based on Transform Units Distribution in High Efficiency Video Coding Standard

Scene change detection plays an important role in a number of video applications, including video indexing, searching, browsing, semantic features extraction, and, in general, pre-processing and post-processing operations. Several scene change detection methods have been proposed in different coding standards. Most of them use fixed thresholds for the similarity metrics to determine if there wa...

Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP): a new approach for the detection of foot-and-mouth disease virus and its sero-types in Pakistan

Successful disease management requires a rapid and sensitive diagnosis method that can recognize early infection even before the manifestation of its clinical signs. The only available field diagnostic tests for foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) are lateral flow devices, commonly known as chromatographic strips. Low sensitivity and inability to detect FMD virus (FMDV) at the serotype level are limit...
